Program Information
On February 1, 2024, pursuant to the Solid Waste-Resource Management Regulations, Product Care Association of Canada, on behalf of its registered Nova Scotia lamp members submitted, a lamp stewardship program plan to the Nova Scotia Department of Environment and Climate Change (NSECC), for approval.
Lamp products are defined as:
Replaceable light source designed to produce light from electricity and includes, but is not limited to, all of the following:
- Fluorescent tubes,
- Compact fluorescent lamps,
- High-intensity discharge lamps,
- Incandescent lamps,
- Light-emitting diode lamps,
Brand owner is defined as either:
- A person who is the owner or licensee of the intellectual property rights to lamp products sold, offered for sale or otherwise distributed in or into the Province,
- A manufacturer or distributer of lamp products sold, offered for sale or otherwise distributed in or into the Province,
- For lamp products imported into the Province, the first person to sell or offer for sale lamp products in the Province;
For those obligated brand owners who have yet to register with Product Care, you can still join the program. As part of the submitted program plan, Product Care committed to providing an updated list of brand owners covered under the program plan to NSECC, before August 1, 2024.
How to join:
If you are a brand owner for lamps, as defined under the Nova Scotia Solid Waste-Resource Management Regulation, and wish to designate and join Product Care’s Nova Scotia lamp stewardship program, you must register via PCA Registration & Reporting Portal, by selecting NS Lamps / Lighting Products.
