Coming Soon: Nova Scotia’s Lights Program, launching in August 2024.
In 2023, Nova Scotia’s amended its Solid Waste-Resource Management Regulations, to add lamps (lights) and other products as designated materials under an extended producer responsibility framework. Product Care Recycling is preparing to launch the Nova Scotia Lights Stewardship Program by August 1st, 2024.
The program will accept designated lamps from all sectors: residential, institutional, commercial, and industrial, regardless of the brand. There will be no charge for accepting designated lamps at any of the program’s return collection facilities, although quantity limits may apply.
Les produits acceptés :
- Compact fluorescent lights (CFLs)
- Fluorescent tubes (straight, curved, U, circular, square, etc.)
- High-intensity discharge (HIDs) and special purpose bulbs
- Incandescent and halogen bulbs
- Miniature bulbs
- Light emitting diodes (LEDs)
- Ultra High Performance (UHP) (replacement projector lamps)
- UV and germicidal bulbs
Les produits refusés :
- Ballasts and light fixtures
- Lamps integrated into products that are not intended for easily removal/replacement by end users
